Pound for Pound Fight!

Yeap, Manny Pacquiao did it again. It was a knock out. British opponent Ricky Hatton was knocked out before the bell resounded to signal the third round. It was a blow by blow by Manny, sending Hatton sprawled twice during the first round and giving him a powerful left hook –known to be Pacquiao’s best weapon- towards the end of the second round, which knocked the British cold. Hatton fell like timber -straight and stiff. Cheering erupted everywhere at MGM Arena, but was momentarily replaced by concern when Hatton’s eyes seemingly rolled back. It took awhile before the Manchester fellow was able to stand without being aided.

Manny is clearly making his mark. He is now known as the pound for pound fighter.

Ok, enough. That was me trying my hand at being a sports writer –far cry! Hahaha. I was just encouraged to dabble a little after seeing what ensued during yesterday’s fight. Intense but short. How short? There were more National Anthems sang -three- than number of rounds for that fight (two) Teehee!

Meanwhile in our friends’ –the Salarda’s- house, there was another pound for pound fight. We knocked down a 35-pound bag of Crawfish! Yes, we ate that much crawfish. It is a favorite around here. We need to take advantage of it while it is still in season. After summer its number dwindles or none at all.

Busy spicing up the crawfish

A small portion of our 35-pound crawfish

Let the feast begin!

The weather cooperated, it was fairly cool -breezy.

Mr. Crawfish, saying "hello!"

We came together to support and, at the same time, enjoy the victory of (good thing he won), our kababayan, Manny Pacman . It is always a delight to watch together. The cheering and the gloating eclipsed the thrill of the game (personally, that’s how I felt -hehe), the frenzy that erupted when Manny was doing his quick moves, reverberated in the Salarda’s house. And we all know a similar scene is happening in a majority of houses in the Philippines and everywhere else in the world where Filipinos reside. I’m sure even the English pubs had beer flowing freely.

chaos, clamour, hullabaloo, racket, turmoil, uproar

We were unexpectedly assailed by a mild case of homesickness and a sense of nationalism when Martin Nievera sung our National Anthem. We all stood up and placed our right hand in our chest. It has been ages since we have done this. In the Philippines, we have flag ceremony once a week.

After the Pacman-Hatton game when our raw spirits had already subsided, we took to the tables in a game of Domino – the latest craze- while the men to their usual Mahjong. We called it a day by 3AM.

Domino Train (see the little trains?)

Mahjong on the next table

True Lies on TV! Talk about multi-tasking!

Till his next game… congratulations, well-done, Pacman –Filipino pride- another victory for the Filipinos. Once again, you’ve brought the Filipinos together with your pound for pound fight! Thank you!

Meanwhile in our corner of the universe, we had pound for pound of crawfish-fun, of Domino-game, of Mahjong, of shrills and cheers… and of FRIENDSHIP!

Looks like a fun night. I do not follow boxing, but it appears to have been a popular fight. Have you considered adding Entrecard to help promote your new blog.

Hi Melissa, Yes, I really like to get entrecard. In fact, I will. I do not know the mechanics of EC (yet), but I will look it up now. Thanks!

Tes, is it you who took the picture "chaos, clamour, hullabaloo, racket, turmoil, uproar"? It is so greatly captured, the fun is so there, so candid and so alive. Love it so much Tes. And the crawfish, oh, I am hungry! I can send you some balut (hehehe), can I have some crawfish? Hehehe!

Pacquiao is now the pound for pound king and he is even considered as one of the best boxers the world has ever known. The crawfish looks yummy!

Looks like everyone had a great time. Not a fan of crawfish. I've eaten it before. Just seems like a lot of work for such little meat. Here a lot of people suck the heads because they say that's where all the flavor is.

That was a lovely crayfish picture :) I haven't tried one though hehe...

On Pacquiao - He really did a great job. And he should just stick to being a boxer instead of plunging into politics and lose again.

Have a great day!
