I have this small garden in my front porch that we find so hard to fix. Whenever we put bushy plants, it grows so thick and tall it obscures the view from the porch. I've been looking around trying to put together the best plants, but it's difficult to figure out which plant goes with what. Alas, thank you "Curb Appeal." In one of the episodes of Curb Appeal, I watched how they fixed a small garden using plants of different textures and height. The trick on texture and shape is putting elongated leaves together with rounded leaves so the different plants doesn't get so tangled up, allowing each plant to stand out. It wasn't hard to follow the instructions. I went to our local garden center and found boxwood plant. It has small, shiny rounded leaves. I combined it with Asparagus fern or some call it fox tail. I splashed some colors by adding petunias, and voila! (teehee)

Now, my porch has a clearer view!

I enjoy watching Curb Appeal among many. I watch most of the programs in HGTV -from gardening, decorating, designing and yes, crafts. Thank you Direct TV (teehee). Even Doods enjoy watching HDTV, but his favorite is ESPN -the real sports buff! We try not to miss Travel Channel -hello Anthony Bourdain! And Food Network -yum! Good thing Direct TV packages are flexible. With only two people in our house, it would be wasteful to pay for channels that none of us would like to watch. On top of flexible packages, their amazing Direct TV deals include a free DVR -how cool is that! When I have an idea that I want to blog about, I'd rather do it right away before the idea evaporates, so instead of dropping the idea to watch a favorite program, I'll just record the program in the DVR, and watch it when my mind is less-cluttered. I like to enjoy what am watching.
Anyway, just in case you got curious about Direct TV, here's more, Direct TV offers 5 months FREE of Direct TV's premier package with 265+ channels, including 31 premium movie channels, this offer includes HBO and Starz to name a few! Cool huh! If you have not YET made that switch to Direct TV, do not hesitate to compare your costly cable to Direct TV, in 15 seconds and just a couple of clicks, you can get a quick quote!
Oh well, I better go back to gardening. I'm done with my small garden, but the jungle known as my backyard needs mowing and trimming. Am looking forward to more Curb Appeal episodes through my Direct TV, to help me manage my jungle-like backyard.

Haven't tried Direct TV....My neighbor has Direct TV and he has given it good reviews. We are currently with Comcast and lately I'm not happy with problems I've been encountering considering the price. It's expensive. So, if budget gets really tight I might have to switch to Direct TV.
This is your garden? They look nice. I wish I can have my own too.
Hmmm....talking about direct TV! I have heard a lot about them lately! :p
Very pretty, the boxwoods and ferns look so good on the red mulch. Perfect for the area.
We've heard quite a bit about Direct TV and it sounds pretty good. At the present time we are locked into a triple play (tv/internet/phone) with our cable company. It was too good to pass up but when it expires who knows.
Speaking of backyard jungles that's whats keeping me so busy these days.

What a lovely little garden you have. I am one of those gardeners who tries to do it myself. My success is fair to partly cloudy LOL.
That's a very nice landscape...the colors, textures and shapes went well. I have a lot to do after the floods.
