I Run the Race

I run the race
Won’t slow my pace
My eyes fixed on the prize
I won’t even think twice
Even when my feelings stray
My heart will shout… “Just stay!”
I’ll take the leap
My faith will reap
Yes, extra strength to hold
And be unafraid and just be bold
Continue to remake me
Shape me and mold me
Lord, just hold me!
Trail of tears I leave behind
I won’t look back there’s no rewind
I look forward and I bound
Race for this treasure I have found
I tire, I cry, but I won’t stop
I’ll leap, I’ll jump and even hop
I run the race
Won’t slow my pace
Till in Your loving arms I find solace!

I wrote this poem when I found out I have cancer. I am now cancer free.
But the race for the CURE continues!

I always cheered myself up during those older days, stay on and stay on again. And now, it needs no more for hiking is my weekly routine.

Cheers!!!

you know I really love this poem Tes, and I am cheering with you for running the race and finishing it free from cancer! What you have been through and the strength you showed us served as inspiration.

like rainfield, i keep my body healthy by hiking and body surfing. well, before i blog, i see to it that i exercise first, that is either i exercise in the water or on land.

God is magnanimous! He is with us in every race and every pace, all we need to do is to never let go of His tight embrace...

PS....I forgot to tell you I love your sunset or is it sunrise picture, you've gone a long way Tes, from your bout with cancer, now into photography, aside of course from being a caring teacher! You have been an inspiration to many of us.

Beth, Cher and Eng, thank you for walking with me during those days when my blogs would be of bland hospital food, needles, catheters, bed pans and such… Indeed, life is good, God is really good! I’ve come a long way, Beth, hahaha –even my photography. What can I say, you inspired us, and now, here I am clicking away!

Thanks, Diane.

I agree, Rainfiled and Beth, it is always wise to stay fit, that is what my husband (Doods) and I are working on now.

It’s sunset, Beth, taken during our long drive from Houston to Arizona (July).

Gorgeous poem, Tes. AND--you are a very creative young lady. I'm so glad to hear that you are cancer-free. One of my best friends has Stage IV cancer (breast/bone)--and is really struggling. I will send her this poem.

Thanks --and stay healthy.

Oh yes, Melissa, to this day, I remember when the doctor told us about it –my husband and I were speechless and numb –it was like somebody turned off the lights and the switch is nowehere to be found! Glad that it’s all in the past now!

Thanks, Betsy, be assured of prayers from our camp to your friend. My prayers goes with this poem as you share it to her.

Tes, I stumble upon your blog today. I was captivated by the beautiful picture and poem but most of all I am sincerely glad for you that you are now cancer-free. When you look at the clouds in your picture, you will see that 'every cloud has a silver lining' and the sun is shining through. May your dreams be filled with sweet tomorrows and may the good Lord bless you (its borrowed from a song).

Thank you, Autumn Belle, that's the best way to look at obstacles... "what's beyond?" We all speak through the lyrics of a song. I am glad the wind blew you to my blog. :)
