Everything Is Negative!

When does the word negative mean something good, er. . . actually MEAN something very very good?

Some of you who have chanced upon my Saturday blog on highways and byways would have read about my periodic scans. I undergo these tests every 12 weeks (3 months). It is intense and thorough because the oncologists would want to monitor any movement or impending recurrence.

Late last year and early part of this year, I had to undergo two major surgeries. The oncologists extracted a five-pound mass that was latched in my uterus (yes, it's cancer, all of it!) . The procedure was nicely done and I have been in remission since that day. The periodic scans are performed for early detection, just in case there is a recurrence. Am hoping the whole episode has really closed the curtains and said "the end!"

Last Sunday, was my scan day. Doods and are I grateful that MD Anderson is open on Sundays so we do not have to miss work. A scan takes up most of my day (what with that awful barium enema causing diarrhea . . . hahaha). The scans are always followed by the reading of results. Last Tuesday, Doods and I missed work to meet with my oncologists.

Verdict: EVERYTHING IS NEGATIVE! Simply translates to no cancer cells found.

On days like these, the word NEGATIVE is very much anticipated! Tuesday was a good day, very, very good day!

Our appointment was early at 10 AM, so we had a lot of time to enjoy the day.

The next scan date is on January 2010. If by that time things are as good as this last scan, then they will change my scan schedule to twice a year -yipeeee! Things are really looking up! Life is good!

Also, that day, Tuesday, Doods and I together with two other friends (Marlon and Buboi) attended a photography club meeting. It was our first time to attend. They were doing a presentation. The guy who presented -Sam- was very good. We learned something new. I cannot wait to attend their next meeting -I love Tuesdays. The club has contests, workshops, and best of all, field trips -yipee! I am really excited.

I carry my camera all the time, especially during scans because there is a lengthy waiting time in between the scans. After an Xray, I need to rest awhile before the CT scan, too much radiation! In between the wait, I take photos. The building across MD Anderson is also MD Anderson (teehee)

At the side of the path, I saw these beautiful blooms. How can I resist these blue trumpets as they wave happily at me. Sadly they will be gone soon. I'll just see them again next year.

I took a quick respite from blogging, it was just a week but it feels so long. I have missed the blogosphere but not as much as I have missed reading my friends' blogs. There were some things I needed to sort out. I am back and am glad to start hopping around your blogs! *hugs*
