Rainbow (Scenic Sunday #2)

My country, the Philippines, has been devastated by the caprice of nature. Typhoon Ketsana has rendered a lot of people homeless -battered, bruised, but not broken. No, never that. Nothing is too enormous to blot out the people's spirit.

There is devastation, but there is also courage and brotherhood. To the nameless people who risked their lives --who volunteered, whose efforts made a difference, fearless and undaunted in the face of such tragedy-- reading about them strengthened my faith in humanity.

I believe in steadfastness, courage, compassion and generosity!

To my dear blogging buddies, the battle is NOT over. As you read, there are still hundreds of homeless people in damp rescue centers -hungry, worried, fearful. Some cannot even bury their dead for even the cemeteries are still flooded; worst, have not even found their dead... I can go on and on.

If you find it in your heart to extend help, the American Red cross is accepting donations. Call 1-800-435-7669. press 1 for Financial Contribution then Press 3 for International OR through this link.

Our community here in Houston has started a 6 o'clock habit (prayer or a moment of silence). Feel free to join us.

You might like to check other blogs from friends with similar sentiments: Ebie, Al, Cherie and Cher.

This rainbow appeared last Wednesday on my way home.

May there be a RAINBOW at the end of the storm.

Your kindness and generosity can be that rainbow at the end of this storm.

I will go to the Red Cross, and donate. I can not give a lot, but at least I can give something. I hope your country recovers soon, from all this devastation.

I can not believe the amount of activity in this area. First the Tsunami, then a earthquake and Typhoon, all in a pacific region.
We will be giving.

Thank you so much for initiating and writing about this Tes, we need more aid to sustain the needs of those who were left homeless. Children are getting sick in the evacuation areas, medicines, potable water, food would be a great help.

Please be very generous in giving until it hurts.

Tes...thank you!

Thanks for linking me Tess. That rainbow was a good sign, although Pepeng changed its course, another new storm is pulling Peping back. I just came from 2 organization meetings last Saturday, and we have discussed the relief efforts. More power to our kababayans in the aid to the whole Pacific Region.

Hopefully there is a rainbow at the end of the misery caused by the typhoons. The fact that people are helping one another is an encouraging sign.

Hi Tes! Thank you for this post, many of our kababayans really need help.

Ganyan talaga ang pinoy, we can still manage to smile despite what happened.

Again, thanks for your concern and please continue to pray for us and the whole of Asia.

Take care.
