Nowadays, people are more educated about stress management. We see the value of relaxation. We are more open to spending on worthwhile treatments like the spa, chiropractic, reflexology and such. But these things cost money. I believe that relaxation is a "skill." It is a mental habit. It is the ability to detach our worries and concerns and give ourselves a break every now and then.
There are many ways of unwinding and relaxing that does not require a lot of spending. Watching a movie is one of those. Whether it is a movie, sports, hobby channel... I have found watching very relaxing. My husband Doods is fond of watching sports... any kind of sports. Basketball is his favorite -he plays well too- next is football, then there's baseball, tennis and what have you. Other than sports, he is also a fan of the Food Network. Myself, am fond of HGTV. Am easily entertained by those interior decorating channels and those craft shows. Discovery and History channel are our common faves. It really pays to have Direct Satellite TV! It's one of the most economical way to relax. With Direct TV's $29 a month, it's but $1 a day of pure unadulterated pleasure.
With Direct TV Satellite, you have options. You get to chose what package is best suited with your lifestyle. You get to prioritize which one of these features count. High Definition TV, Digital Video Recorder (DVR) premium movie channels, local and international channels or best of all, just include everything.
Remember, relaxation is a skill, and one that is worth mastering. It does not have to be costly!

Travel, for me, is relaxing - ESPECIALLY cruising and that can cost. There are great deals out there, however, you just have to be aware. Recently, one of the nicest Royal Caribbean ships, the Radiance of the Seas, was offering 9 - 10 day Mexican Riviera cruises in Dec & Jan, in an outside cabin for a base fare of $499 - port charges and taxes are extra. That includes All meals, though, and shows ( but not alcohol ) - an incredible price!
I so agree with you about relaxation. For me its getting outside and taking a long walk with my dog. When my husband is home on days off of course I take him too! I also find it is very relaxing to read a good book.
For, basketball. I don't watch TV to relax. :p
Direct TV seems to have the best deal so far.
I can just move around so much and rare that I rest...yes it is indeed a skill.
