Eyeglasses

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Zenni Optical for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Prescription eyeglasses are a health item and a necessity.  Without their eyeglasses my friends and co-teachers call themselves "blind."  They can hardly function. My mom and my sister also have two pairs, one that they leave at home and one that they carry around. This way, if they leave one at work, they still have a spare at home. Actually, I think my sister has more than two. There’s practically very little she can accomplish without her eyeglasses. She not only need to carry a spare at all times, she needs to leave one at school, in the car,  and one at the workplace. Good thing she's  practical about it and get the ones that are reasonably priced. She likes them stylish and fashionable, but not pricey! With four kids, she's not the type who'd go for branded stuff. Those cheap eyeglasses work!

Zenni Optical has no middlemen, no retail overhead, and practically no advertising budget, they do not pay for or sell expensive, or even inexpensive, brand names, but only their own manufactured brand, ZENNI.
Using the latest modern materials, manufacturing and marketing systems Zenni Optical bring their product direct from their factories to the customers. No wonder satisfied customers eagerly spread the word.
Eyeglasses are definitely a personal fashion and style item, and to that end they strive to provide a fashionable and stylish product. Zenni Optical takes considerable pride in being able to bring to all a very high quality product of great durability, safety and comfort at truly reasonable and affordable prices.

LG DoublePlay

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of LG DoublePlay™ for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

With a sister in Arizona; my mom, brother and another sister in the Philippines; and I, here in Texas, social networking comes in handy.  It doesn’t feel as if we’re miles apart because we get to chat real time and I get to access updates and photos from them real time. All these were made possible with technology and facebook. In fact, a month ago, when my brother got engaged, it was as if we were part of  the party because we got to see the photos right away and we even got to join them in the party through real-time chat. Social networking is a powerful way to touch base with loved ones and friends. Facebook has revolutionized photo-sharing big time. How cool is that.

My sister in Arizona makes it a practice to capture my baby niece’s antics on her phone and shares it with us. Watching my baby niece, Monica, dance and talk to her dolls, makes my day. Monica’s big sisters –Cate and Yam (who stay here with us here in Houston) live for my their mom’s posts –they miss their baby sister a lot and eagerly waits for their moms photo and video uploads of Monica.

Having a good handheld device maximizes the power of social networking. The swipe function in my LG android makes typing a no-brainer. Swipe is so cool, I just slide from one letter to the other and voila, the word is created. I like that it spells-check itself too so that when my finger slides on the wrong letter, it will prompt me to chose the closest acceptable word –cool huh. Now more than ever I can catch up with my nieces’ texting. Yay!

The LG DoublePlay™ is equipped with dual customizable touch screens ¾ a 3.5-inch main display and 2.0-inch sub display ¾ that operate independently or in tandem, as well as a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard and Swype® for easy text input, LG DoublePlay™ allows users to perform multiple tasks at once such as updating their Facebook pages while simultaneously surfing the Web, texting or checking email.

The LG DoublePlay™ also comes with a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and 720p HD video recorder, allowing users to capture and share pictures and videos via messaging, email or Facebook.
The device also offers multiple messaging options, including Cloud Text™ and Group Text™, giving users the ability to send and receive texts from a PC or tablet or create group chats on-the-go for faster, more efficient content sharing.

LG DoublePlay™ features Android™ 2.3 (Gingerbread) with access to Android Market™ and delivers complete user customization with seven home screens and up to nine touchscreen shortcuts for one-touch navigation.

LG DoublePlay™ is the ultimate social networking and multi-tasking handset, featuring a split QWERTY keyboard and dual capacitive touch screens, making simultaneous mobile activities easier than ever.
The LG Doubleplay™ is available exclusively at T-Mobile.

How about you, how many text messages do you send a month? How many hours (approximately) do you spend Social Networking on your phone each month?

Fall Colors

It's Mosaic Monday once again at Mary's Little Red House. She graciously hosts this event every Monday. Stop by her red house and see what other mosaic makers have done this week.

Fall is about to give way to winter, so I have decided to post my collection of fall photos. I love the explosion of colors during fall and will miss it when winter comes.

For the moment, the birds won't be coming to visit this bird bath ...

It won't be long before the last leaf falls. Winter is just around the corner...

There is always JOY whenever I get the chance to blog. Blogging is very relaxing.

Stand Up For Family

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of American Family Insurance for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Kids nowadays are not just use to  questioning their  parents authority, they are also used to talking back to their elders. Truth is, I think children should be exposed to comedy shows that talk about family values. They should be aware of how it used to be when their parents were  little kids. This will give them an idea about the values their parents have come to know and live by, and perhaps have a better understanding of their parents.

Most Stand Up comedy shows sell not just because they make people laugh, most often than not, there is an element of truth in the jokes. In fact, I believe the jokes are bought because people can relate to the comedian’s experiences.

Stand Up For Family , sponsored by AmFam, cracks me up because it reminds me of my own childhood experiences.  Respect played a vital role when we were growing up. Unlike most kids these days, my siblings and I are not use to questioning my parents’ decisions. We try to appeal a case or two, but a lot of times, we know a No means a NO. And that there is a good reason behind that decision.  Stand Up for Family is sponsored by American Family Insurance. The show is family oriented, rich in value and full of inspiration. It features some of today's talented comedians.

Bringing The Outdoors In!

Our yard suffered terribly from the recent attack of drought here in Texas. The grass have turned brown and crisp. The grounds were parched and the plants lifeless. A law had been implemented that limited us to water the plants two times only each week. With drought absorbing what little amount of water has been left in the soil, watering two times a week was not enough. We lost a lot of our bushes -2 of my beloved azaleas died. Almost all the water-loving veggies withered.  Our 15 feet magnolia is barely there -still 75% parched! It broke my heart to see them die before my eyes, but we decided to let them go than use up what little water Houston has saved on its reservoirs.

Alas, the drought is over and the air is once again crisp and cool. Our yard is starting to be in full swing. The flowers are giving back! Once again, am able to cut some roses from the yard. I got lots last Saturday. Yay!

Newly-hatched Anole Lizard

I was walking in the yard last Saturday and I saw this baby Anole Lizard trying to shake off  the flakey remnants from hatching. I must've been a few minutes late from witnessing the little creature ate off some of its yolk. I spent some time observing it explore it's new world. It did not take long for the little creature to start hopping from one leaf to the other. Life in the yard made me smile.

The yard has been looking drab since the onslaught of drought. A law had been implemented in our village -we can only water the yard twice a week. According to the last number of our house, our schedule was Wednesday and Saturday. Even with all the soaking, the yard still looked crisp and drab. Two days were not enough.. Well, fall is here anyway, and the drought is almost over. Most of the plants are well on their way to recovery.

For the meantime, I see so much life in the yard now. Hello little lizard.... I think I know who your parents are!

Puppies vs. Babies

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Puppies vs. Babies for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Hmm.. what are the two things that make your day? Mine? Well, what else but the cutest things in the world -puppies and babies! In any order -hahaha.  Yeap, I can’t quite make up my mind who is the cutest. They are simply adorable! Such playful creatures.

Doods and I are crazy about Monica! :)

My baby niece, Monica, delights us with her endless antics. She is at an age when she begins to name things around her –talking cute! Her voice alone makes me laugh! Especially when she's trying to tell us a story. My sister’s puppy –Roxy-  also has super funny tricks. I’m automatically magnetized when she starts yelping! I can spend hours playing with those two!  I can't wait to get home to see them!

At Home

Thanks for the guest post by Jonathan Curtis

We are a Home SECURITy familY, through and through. My husband is all about making sure everyone is well aware of their surroundings at all times and since we’ve got three girlsI think he worries more than the average dad would. When they were all in their teens he made them sign up for self-defense classes which was cute but I think he took it too far! I just can’t imagine what he thinks is going to happen to them but you know, I’m glad he’s put so much care into making sure they’re taken care of. I love them all to death and if anything ever happened to them I don’t know what I would do with myself. They’re all grown women now, living on their own, and I don’t really worry about them at all since I know my husband trained them all so well. There’s something to be said for that peace of mind and I can certainly thank my husband for that one! I love him for that.

Calgary Homes

Looking for apartment or house for rent in Calgary? Look no more with Calgary houses for rent.

My co-teachers, Purva and Preti  both have Canadian residency even while they work in America.  They cannot make up their minds where to live permanently. When they left the country –India- they decided to apply residency in Canada because they like the privileges accorded to Canadian citizens, esp. the medical benefits. But a job opportunity in the US was available, so they moved to the US and retained the residency in Canada. However, one of our common friends, Ravi, decided to push through with the citizenship in Canada and left US. He and his family moved to Calgary and have found a delightful house for rent.

I spoke to him some time back and he said they have no regrets in moving to Calgary. They opted to live in the city (instead of the rural areas) and enjoy the amenities offered by a typical metropolis.   They boast of a quality life with low cost of living, low crime rate, job opportunities and most of all, A+ medical benefit. They did not even have to wait long to find some houses for rent. All they have to do is rely on an online locator and several options were presented to them –apartment, loft, condo, house. These make things easier. It even saves them time and effort to shop on wheels.

Moving to Alberta Canada

Nowadays, it’s easier to find an apartment through online apartment locators. Our friends who moved to Canada did not have to look hard for rentals in Edmonton. It saved them a lot of time, effort and money. They found a good deal with hardly any effort.

A lot of our friends in the Philippines have migrated to Canada.  Canada has so much to offer. Cool, clean place to live, job opportunities for all ages, good education, free medical insurance… and so much more!

Like them, we know how it feels to uproot and move to another country. One of the basic things to take care of is the housing. I remember another friend based here in Houston helped us look for an apartment located in a safe area near our place of work.  It would have been easier if we knew then about apartment locators that offer  a lot of options  –prices, types of housing (apartment, loft, condo etc.)  Turned out the area where we moved in wasn’t that safe at all. We moved after just three months. It is now easier to find an apartment through online apartment locators. Our friends who moved to Canada did not have to look hard. They utilized one of those apartment locators and they were able to pull up a lot of information needed to get a good deal in a good spot.

They are now settled and is fast beginning to be adjusted in their new place, with new friends... and a new life.

We can’t wait to visit them and to see Muttart Conservatory at Aleberta, Canada.

A Door With A Statement

Since it's October, our school, like many others, is celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness Month. One of the many interesting activities is the Door Decorating Contest. Contest or not, I got excited when I heard about it. I welcome every opportunity to work on something am passionate about. I worked on my door and transformed it into an inspiration board that would greet me each morning as I come to school.

I had my regular tests and scans done last week and the results are very good. I have been in remission for two years and 10 months now. I can't wait to be out of the three-year window... and beyond! For now, let's live, laugh, love... just celebrate life!

Did I mention my door won first place? Teehee. Like what I said, contest or not...

but who wouldn't be thrilled with these dainty, pink stuff -especially the pink carry-all and the fluffy socks and towel!

To the Door Decorating Committee, thank you, guys! Love each piece.

And the race continues...
