Winter Safety

Guest post of the week by Deangelo Spencer

When the weather outside begins to take a turn towards colder temperatures, it is time to prepare yourself for the impending illness of the season. Winter is that time of year when the chances of becoming sick increase dramatically. Not only do your chances of coming down with a cold or the flu increase in winter, but everyone else's chances do as well. This means that even if you maintain your health safely during winter, you may still find yourself ill because someone else didn't.

Drinking a sufficient amount of water is necessary during any season, but especially so during winter. Water is your body's natural solvent and the more it has available to use the more regularly it can dispel harmful bacteria and viruses. In addition to drinking water, it is important to not drink too many caffeinated beverages. Caffeine naturally dehydrates your body, so it will counteract any water you are drinking. Also make a point of bringing many warm liquids into your body. The warmth of soups and teas can go great distances towards keeping you healthy when the weather is cold.

Be sure that no matter what precautions you take to keep yourself warm this winter that you are also sure to set you alarm (ADT security information) each and every time you leave. You do not want your precautions to be for not.
